im not gonna argue lol but i do think it’s xenophobic from the perspective that ppl are suggesting that bts can’t be both kpop and individually recognized as a worldwide artist, by detaching them from the word kpop, they are contributing to the western xenophobia and stereotypes

if u feel that strongly about it...ok i guess?? bts paved the way... for kpop... and while the label has been detrimental in the west, rather than changing the connotation that is stemmed by xenophobia, ppl want to keep painting it in a bad light...

and in no way does that mean i think bangtan should b labeled as “just” a kpop group. they are successful as the biggest group out there rn and also deserve awards due to that??? its not like i think there should b a best kpop group category at western awards shows
