Stargate (1994).

You all know the shape of the Stargate, which we discovered in the Roland Emmerich's movie before seeing it again in multiple TV series for two decades.

But did you know that it was originally... triangular?

Upside down or not, this shape resumed the shape of the (Goa'ulds) pyramids.
And it is ultimately much easier to make a dial.
