NRL's back this week, so I profiled perhaps the game's best player.

This was him cancelling Canterbury's comeback in round 2. That game he ran for more metres than any forward ever recorded.
His impact and work rate is extraordinary. As is his consistency.
I asked his coach for Tonga, Kristian Woolf, why he's so good. Obviously his size has an impact.
But according to Woolf his footwork sets him apart.
A video comparison gives you some idea.
There's some evidence that his role is expanding, meaning his production may grow in coming years.
Even now he is on track to record more career metres than any other player by the time his ten-year contract is up in 2027.
Jason Taumalolo, returning on Friday versus the Titans.

📾 AAP: Dan Himbrechts
There's a cute part too where I tracked down the undistinguished former Cowboys player Clint Amos who pulled out of a game late in 2010 after a sleepless night supporting his wife have their first child, Finn. Taumalalo was called up, debuting at 17. Finn likes Gavin Cooper 🙃
