Chewing on the vision/theory of change in preface/Ch. 1 of the @ASTbigideas book:
1) Not sure I've ever read a teaching book that encourages me in par 1 to be critical & make sure that the evidence is clear and compelling to me before changing practice. -c- #ASTBookChat
2) Teachers need professional practice routines to guide us in new, challenging ways of thinking and doing - just like our students need disciplinary practice routines for their own growth. -c- #ASTBookChat
3) "Transformative teaching is the outcome of (1) focused work, (2) with colleagues, (3) on things that matter for student learning, (4) over time" - research informs, yet we ultimately create our own local knowledge & best practices, together. -c- #ASTBookChat
4) Equity and rigor are both central for ambitious science teaching. Yes. Absolutely. Appreciate this book for centering the link between them. Reminds me of @Ready4rigor and #CRTandTheBrain. -c- #ASTBookChat
Lots to ponder about this theory of change, even beyond practices themselves. So, thrilled to be reading this book with other educators via #ASTBookChat. Thinking about other co-learning w/ colleagues from @OdysseyPUSD and @KnowlesTeachers.
Very excited for journeys ahead. -c-
