You can call it "distance learning," you can call it "squirrelly burly ha ha." Call it whatever the heck you want. But it is not even close to being the same, and everybody even somewhat involved in this problems knows that.
You want to make the argument that we should be shutting down schools to protect people who mainly are over the age of 80. Fine, I'm open to the debate. But don't pretend like society as a whole is not going to pay a huge cost for that.
And let us also remember that the burdens of this will be paid mainly by students in the lower socioeconomic strata of society, thereby exacerbating inequalities that we have invested trillions in education to combat.
Let me tell you something: Kids are getting left behind, right now in this fourth nine weeks. It is happening. It is a problem.
