Memorial Day is upon us. 🇺🇸

Share your stories of your favorite war veterans. 🇺🇸

My pick for today is SGT. Stubby, the war dog. 🐕

SGT. Stubby was a WWI trench warfare dog. Not only was he the most decorated dog-a-war in WWI, but he went on to meet 3 presidents....
..& he received an entire collection of medals for his service.

Upon his own suspicions, he rooted out & captured a German spy singlehandedly.

On several occasions, he successfully alerted his infantry division of artillery & deadly gas attacks that would have been...
..undetected otherwise.

He was also exceptional at locating injured soldiers during intense fire fights & artillery strikes, despite the debilitating effects of the fog of war.

Remarkably, SGT. Stubby was eventually made the official mascot of Georgetown University post-WWI.
SGT Stubby was an exceptional warrior, as many dogs are.

Dogs know a type of loyalty most humans will never experience or understand.

They also possess a type of courage that the greatest human soldier can only hope to achieve.

They fend off wolves, bears...
... lions & will fight beside us with little hesitation, or even the slightest regard for their own safety.

As all great soldiers they deserve our respect & admiration.

In memory of SGT. Stubby, of the 102nd Infantry, 26th Yankee Division. 🇺🇸

From stray dog to hero..

Salute.
