'Living with coronavirus was SO hard for us' (Spectator)

This weekend...

'We went to Durham so the grandparents could look after our son.'

'Scratch that... the sisters, and the niece'. 1/6
'And they didn't help (though life was SO hard) - all they did is leave food and supplies outside.'

'And, of course, we were in a separate property' (with occasional ABBA in the (shared?) garden). 2/6
'The police did not speak to the family'.

'Scratch that... My father called the police about something unrelated (and the visit happened to come up in conversation)'. 3/6
'My wife was ill, and I just knew that I was literally just about to become too ill to look after our son... Of course, I was well enough to drive.'

'The rules and the guidance make an exception for... [Grant Shapps adds the words].' 4/6
Did you stop on the drive to Durham? But what about the other dates? The castle, for instance?

'Campaigning journalists are making claims some of which are untrue. Enough already, let's move on.' 5/6
'He followed the instinct of every father and parent... and I do not mark him down for that.'

'His overriding aim was to stop the spread of the virus and save lives.'

I somehow don't think this is going to convince anyone. 6/6
