This is warm, welcome, important news.

@InuaEllams wrote an extraordinarily beautiful piece that tore into the topic it addressed in a way that befits it but that few are both uncompromising&sensitive enough to do.

I'm deeeeply proud to be associated with it. Here's why: https://twitter.com/InuaEllams/status/1264620937921671173
As a survivor of sexual violence who has made a play about coming through it Inua asked me to read Half God as - without spoilering - it has SV as one of its themes. It was an exquisite marvel but the weight of the trauma still wasn't heavy enough for me.
I told him this. Many a man - many a person - might have nodded and gone about their business.

But when I went to see #NancyMedina's ravishing production @KilnTheatre with extraordinary @RakieAyola & #KwameOdoom it stabbed me in the heart.

In a good way, if that's possible.
I mean he proved it was possible.

To watch a play by a man that explores that cunt-exploding-rage that one might think only womxn know, proved to me that we are seen.

It was eviscerating. It had to be, otherwise it would not have been full.

And this was full to overflowing.
Thank u for seeing us. Thank u for giving us power in the face of the demon that so many would have us shrink at.

For we do not shrink. We bulge, we blossom & we grow.

We learn the act of sewing ourselves back together & our rage propels us to do so.

And you gave us that rage.
This might sound like it's too difficult a play to watch, or to read. But it's not. It lifts us up.

(I do think it should carry a hearty trigger warning, all art should that risks triggering trauma - so we can be in a place of choice when deciding to engage)
But please read this play. Treat yourself to a planet-grappling exploration of basketball and the divine.

Support @InuaEllams, glory of a human that he is.

And please, tour bookers, book it when theatres are once again opening their fulsome arms to us.

(YES, INUA!!!! đŸŸđŸ„‚đŸ˜)
I was also OBSESSED with @MaxHJohns stunning design. Worthy of the Goddesses and Gods it housed.

(Forgive me for dire screenshots of @tsantilisphoto's beautiful shots)
