I will tell you honestly I do not care one little bit what Cummings did. He could have flown to the moon and back. Doesn’t matter. He is not the problem. We have one of the highest death tolls in the world because of failed Tory governance and fundamental problems in our country.

The problem with focusing on Cummings this much is it absolves the real criminal—Johnson and the *entire* Tory government and decades long commitments to neoliberalism that have hollowed out the health service and protections for working class people. Cummings is not the issue.

Cummings is guilty of being a bastard—that’s it. The failures of the U.K. response to COVID—19 are the fault of the entire Tory government and deep systemic problems in Britain’s economy and social governance that have left us incapable and unprepared to deal with an epidemic.
