What I think Cummings and Boris Johnson really underestimated was the sheer *anger* people would feel at that prick breaking lockdown, how it hits everyone so hard on an emotional level because people are, in the best case scenario, really missing seeing their families.
And the worst case scenario, which has affected tens of thousands of people, is having to say goodbye to loved ones over facetime. While meanwhile that prick is out there flouting the rules everyone else has had to suck up.
This - brazenly going off on family visits - is, ironically, the single worst thing Cummings could have done in a climate where everyone is missing their families. It plays like a smack in the face.
Cummings could fucking eat a baby on live TV, and there'll be Tory pricks defending it by saying he was very hungry. But going to visit his mum - the one thing most people want to do, but cannot - that's stoking up the anger, that is.
This is going to make the anger worse, not better - tens of thousands of people have lost loved ones and been unable to be able to comfort one another in person. https://twitter.com/harrytlambert/status/1264650700883136514
It's perhaps an irony that the one human thing Dominic Cummings has done in his miserable live may prove to be his undoing, but you know what? Fuck him, I hope he fucking rots.
Most people in the country have either experienced losing a loved one and being unable to comfort one another in person, or know someone who has been through this: that Dominic Cummings broke rules and did the thing they wanted more than anything but couldn't do is fuel to a fire
