[J] Hellooo I've decided to word vomit some thoughts since work has lightened up a bit and I've still yet to recover from the concert last night
I've been a fan since the absolute very beginning of TVXQ back in late 2003 and to this day I cannot condense into simple terms what kind of performance was given last night.
They are exactly the cookie cutter definition of professionalism and performance that will be remembered from generation to generation and they are prime examples of the late 90's-early 2000's training that SM provided
Their passion for music is so difficult to contest and they are continuously learning and growing from every new genre and trend that comes our way. TVXQ is consistently changing, reforming, and adapting while still digging even deeper roots into their humble nature & experience.
Anyone of any age who truly looks at the bigger picture of music entertainment from South Korea cannot look at TVXQ and say they are not a force to be reckoned with. Bringing up their name just for the sake of mentioning history will break anyone's tunnel vision.
Their effort and pains to reach where they are as artists is unparalleled. Not just physical efforts and pains, but also emotional and mental as well. The split of the group in 2009/2010 shook an entire fanbase from the ground up. I'll recap just in case [L] wants to read w/me.
From an emotional standpoint, a group of young and passionate guys still on the high of being some of Korea's most famous names in music-- 'all of a sudden being torn asunder'-- was unheard of. I'm talking beyond the shipping, the fan service, and the boom of popularity
These five were brothers and had wonderful memories with one another. No one can deny this. They all had a specific role and the media pressure to fulfill those roles (as being goofy, smiling, serious, paternal, etc) was by far THE most overwhelming I will ever EVER recall.
Their privacy was always shattered and broken into because of how incredibly huge they were as a group and as individuals, especially in realms of shipping. The fans back then were scary as all hell. So what did these people turn into after the split?
Somehow, these people unhealthily obsessed with TVXQ as five members became even scarier when these artists turned into two separate names.
All five of them, then ONLY in their early 20's, experienced how monstrous people can be.
I still remember reading under Korean 'fan cafe' posts when I was very young and being stressed FOR these guys. I cannot imagine how anyone would handle such spite and poison associated with their individual birth-given names. I still hold back as a fan because of those monsters
I'll get back on honing in on just TVXQ as they are presently. I can't even mention the other group without being scared of how some people who read this may react.
I really, really have to pause before deciding on where to even begin. Where to start? How Yunho and Changmin had to recreate themselves and redo so much training in order to fill in all 'spots' of a group with such a heavy name?
These two men were assigned specific roles for basically an all-around heartthrob a cappella group, and now they had to sing in all ranges unfamiliar to them. They also had to perform as two people to fill entire stages themselves.
They had to start again from the ground up to rebuild the TVXQ name as something honorable and to be proud of instead of a tragic mentioning lost in time. When I first read that Yunho and Changmin were planning to come back as TVXQ, I very sincerely took a long time to think.
As a Korean born and raised in America, I had a good grip on how both eastern and western audiences would respond. For their image and SM's, it was a big risk to come back with a name when 40% of the people in it were there to make it 100% theirs. They still did it. Hands down.
That concert last night was an amalgamation of years of training, years of REtraining, and all the more years of experience and interactions with people both for and against them.
It's in the ease and confidence of how Yunho and Changmin move. It's in their tone of voice and professionalism for the camera along with small glances and exchanges with the people they work with. It's in how they perform and relax with one another.
It is in their growth as two individuals leaning on one another to be each other's support when their partner needs it the most. One makes up for what the other lacks, and they had to learn and understand each other beyond anyone else's comprehension.
Last night for me, TVXQ proved again in real-time that no stage of any size, shape, or form is too difficult to handle.

They've had my love and attention for longer than half of my life thus far, and I'm still falling for these incredible artists over and over again.
Being with them for so long has been worth every moment of stress, laughter, tears, and happiness. Truly.
