It's #PansexualVisibilityDay and I've received a lot of messages asking what the difference between bi and pan is and if pan is a valid identity. Another thread https://twitter.com/radicalsapphic/status/1264124584447684609
In my first thread I talk about the bisexual manifesto written in 1990. Take a look at this last part here.
The same manifesto that is important to the conversations of bi meaning "attraction to more than one gender" gives explicit support to those who find bisexual too limiting of a term, and an understanding of how unique our experiences are.
And let's go through those bisexual organizations I used as prominent voices to explain the definition of bi
Bisexual Resource Center: USA
Bisexual Index: UK
Toronto Bisexual Network
You can't use "Bi means attraction to more than one gender" in order to invalidate Pansexuals because the history surrounding that definition is connected to to the history of solidarity between bisexuals and pansexuals.
So when you use that to try and say pansexuals aren't valid you are distancing yourself from bi history and community.
Bi often means attraction to more than one gender

Pan often means attraction to all genders

These definitions can vary between individuals.

You can also identify as both.
