So, shall we talk about childcare. Recent @TheBMA survey showed that:
- 20% of doctors had to find new childcare, because their normal provider was not available
- 10% had to
childcare due to their work on #COVID19
- 13% have had to
hours (/ not work) due to childcare issues
- 20% of doctors had to find new childcare, because their normal provider was not available
- 10% had to

- 13% have had to

The point here being: childcare is tough. Especially in a pandemic when you can't rely on elderly relatives without putting them at risk. But we have had to crack on, and try and make it work, without breaking the rules ... Or it seems most of us have ...
Incidentally, we have been calling on the government to do more to support healthcare workers with childcare; it's a problem that has existed for many years and been worsened by the pandemic.
Last week, we wrote to @GavinWilliamson (the Secretary of State for Education) highlighting the problems and asking for urgent action from the Government. You can read our briefing here: https://www.bma.org.uk/advice-and-support/covid-19/bma-asks/covid-19-childcare-for-doctors-in-england
In the meantime, those who need help with childcare will just continue to find ways and means to ensure their children are kept safe, within the lockdown rules, even if it is causing inconvenience and worry - for the greater good. #dailybriefing
