As many of you know I attended all white high school. Took SATs and attended VCU. That summer there was a program implemented by the Federal Government to allow black students from the inner city high schools in Richmond to attend VCU without taking the SATs. They stayed in the

Dorms during the summer to get acclimated to college. They were assigned special advisers to help them navigate college life. Many had not taken college preparatory courses. Many of these inner city students did graduate. Maybe a semester later but they graduated. This was in

The early 70’s. The President at the time was Nixon, his Education Department approved this. These black students were able to start their adult lives with a diploma which was very helpful. Reagan would not have allowed anything like this and you damn sure know Trump won’t.

Saying this to say things did get appreciably better after the Civil Rights Act. The main reason white folk put Reagan in office was to stifle the gains that black folk had made and that’s exactly what he did.
