I think there are some newer players to #Splatoon, and I'm seeing a lot of mistakes that I used to make myself. I think I wanna make a thread about learning from them and avoiding them.
1) If you are going to Squid Jump to a teammate, pick verrrrry carefully! Jumping to the frontline is generally ill-advised. Take a moment while you're spawning to watch your map. Is there enemy ink appearing around a player? Don't jump to them.
2) When somebody targets you with their Tenta Missiles special, stay in place (if you're not being attacked) and then move after they're fired. The missiles will be clustered in one spot rather than spread out (but if you're playing Splat Zones, get off your zone ASAP!).
3) The best thing you can do is to train your eyes to track players as they're swimming, as they'll leave ripples (unless they have a particular ability on their gear). If you can see what direction they're swimming in, you know where to attack.
4) Always, always play the objective. Getting splats helps pave the way for the objective (inking turf, pushing the tower forward, tossing clams in the basket, etc), but what matters most is getting points for the objective.

Can't get splats in Turf War? Just focus on inking. 🙂
I'll add to this thread as I have time, but please add your own tips!

Most importantly, have fun! If the game is stressing you out, take a break.
