1986 Cleveland Browns at Detroit Lions. Darryl Rogers head coach for the Lions. After Billy was hurt, the Lions kind of went into an abyss of players that were in between years of the playoffs in early 80s to when Barry was drafted.
I just noticed that the pads are shrinking.
Eric Hipple is now a veteran quarterback leading a Lions, but he has Lomas brown and Kevin Glover in front of him. James Jones @ RB. Jeff Chadwick & Herman Hunter @ WR.
I believe the veteran Vern Lundquist is calling the game along with Pat Haden.
browns on defense have veteran names that recognize like Clay Matthews… Senior.
And now for the commercials: Chevy S 10 is being advertised with the rebate offer. John Madden is still promoting Miller Lite beer.
in a Hewlett-Packard commercial. Antiquated business systems already.
Browns with an offense that everybody knows, Bernie Kosar. Ernest Byner. Webster slaughter wide receiver. Tight End Ozzie Newsome.
Lions defense is hardly recognizable in names.
One name that is recognizable on the Lions is Mike Cofer/linebacker. I still have remnants of their silver rush with William gay on the front line.

and by the way, head coach for the Browns is Marty Schottenheimer!
Commercials! GMAC financing for your GM car. United airlines, you need a vacation. Mobile one which is still out there.. Synthetic.

and you can vote whether to revise instant replay or keep it the way it is using 900 numbers and $.50 per call.😁
Nice little seeing a Bob Golic senior talking to his son Bob Golic Junior about ready to play the game.
Hipple just made an outstanding play scrambling around getting the ball out in a pass to James Jones.
RCA advertising their component system remote control. It looks like a computer keyboard now.
FedEx just advertised how quick the tracking system is… You can find out where your package is in… 30… Minutes.
Also forgot to mention for the Browns is Kevin Mack.
Mike Cofer was blitzing on the way and and he was black so hard he flipped up in the air did a somersault with his feet kicking Kosar to helmet as he was trying to make a pass. Hard way to get to the quarterback man.
Man I miss those Miller Lite commercials, they were really funny.
NFL was advertising the Hall of Fame with Paul Hornung who just been inducted in 1986. 34 years later Alex Karras finally gets in even though he did the same thing for suspension in early 60s.
I can’t figure out where this game is being played at. It’s at a baseball park which would be tiger stadium if it’s in Detroit, but it could be Cleveland because the crowd is certainly pro browns!
By the way, the lions have the home uniforms on.
Just Saw an awesome Miller Lite commercial Bob Lanier & Dave Collins.

oh yeah and magnum P.I. was on back then!
Lions as well as other teams are still doing their stand up, set, then hand on the ground motion all in unison along their offensive line.
And now they referred to Tiger stadium so they are playing in Detroit.
This really was a team in transition. From the early 80s of the Billy Sims era they still had Leonard Thompson, James Jones who became a rookie when Billy went out with injury and Keith Dorney who was on injured reserve. New guys, Kevin Glover and Lomas brown. … And Eddie Murray
A little sidenote, Dexter Mandley was on the team at the time, second-year player, and his wife was expecting their first child. Wonder how they’re doing at 33 years old now?
And on the team is our old friend “Rubes” Rubick!
Hewlett Packard is advertising business solutions again, how come everyone of those people wear glasses?
Chrysler is advertising their Chrysler LeBaron GTS for under $12,000. Six years earlier in 1980 they were advertising cars for under $5000!
Under two minutes and the lions are trying to get within field-goal range for Eddie Murray. It was noted that Eddie Murray has hit 11 field goals over 50 yards. My goodness that’s an average nowadays.
I normally don’t report scores because I want anyone is reading this thread to enjoy the game if they’ve not seen it before or not seen it till after they start reading this thread.
but it’s tied at halftime. It’s a good tough game.
