[haikyuu 394]

suna’s comparison of sakusa to kita is definitely something worth exploring. they're alike but not alike.

sakusa believes in the existence of luck and inevitability. despite that, he believes there are things within the scope of his control. +
those two beliefs may be contradictory but there is also harmony in it- while unexpected and unexplainable events can occur, he acts and reacts because it’s the only thing he can do. he makes the most of what is within his abilities and does all he can to prepare for the worst. +
sakusa doesn’t fight inevitability but rather subjects himself to the whims of the universe. shit happens. life isn’t fair, which is why he invests in the "process". komori mentions that sakusa finishes everything he sets out to do despite his indifference to the activity. +
focusing on the “process” and not the results is where the similarities between sakusa and kita lie, though arguably with slight differences in their thoughts. sakusa does things properly to be prepared. it’s not clearly mentioned if he enjoys the activity itself. +
kita, on the other hand, does things properly because it is enjoyable. to him, executing these tasks properly, not the results gained from it, is the reward. +
both show an indifference to the results. sakusa goes through the process regardless of the result. kita goes through the process, and the results are simply its byproduct. +
(however, it’s important to note that, in this case, sakusa’s version of results deals with the inevitability, while kita’s deals with something more “controllable”) +
to me, it feels like both sakusa and kita’s philosophies are both examples of living in the moment and doing all you can without regrets. they’re alike but not alike.
forgot to add: sakusa and kita understand the importance of the process and take an active role in it. it reflects in their personalities- they are both blunt and honest. they call for straightforward communication in order to waste no time to get to the bottom of things.
