Free esports production education thread. Control room 101. Everything you see on screen is called from the Control Room. Not every control room works the same but most follow this basic plan. We do at @dnpeek
The T.D. / Technical Director / Vision Mixer (EU). The T.D. programs all the transitions and cameras for the show. When the director says take camera 2 he is the one pushing the button.
The Director. He (or her!) is calling the show. Telling cameras when to move and setting the timing for all changes. He commands when things happen and how. Everything you see and hear is from his call.
Producer. The producer is in charge of the run of show. The planning of what is needed for a show. Picking what happens in the flow of the broadcast. In the talents ear about what happens next. Calls for graphics and video. Match delayed? Producer better have a plan to entertain.
Assistant Director or A.D. The A.D. is the time keeper. They count down breaks and video to make sure everyone is ready when it ends. Ever see black on a stream after a video? Most likely no one is keeping track.
The Audio 1 or A1. In charge of all the sound you hear. Yes that hot mic as well.
Graphics. Graphics can be any number of people. Some use an operator and a producer. Want to do a lower 3rd with a players stats? That is from graphics.
Replay / Tape. 1 to 6 people who operate all the video you see on a broadcast. That great 3K with a reaction shot of the player yelling is all thanks to a great replay team.
This is just the basics. It takes many more people to make a great broadcast. Keep the same team together for a few weeks and it becomes a well oiled machine.
Here is a video @priusCSGO did of some of this in action
