My review of D-2 by Agust D😊 (that nobody really cares about) song by song:
Moonlight: a proper hip hop intro, didn't expect any less from MIN YOONGI. I really liked the beginning with that old school sound. Also, the nevermind reference🥺 (i love nvm) and in general the whole song had an exciting vibe that's making you look forward for the rest mixtape.
Moonlight: onto the lyrics. 🤠 I really like the vibe, he's saying whatever he felt at the time about the process of the song and it's so cool to get a glimpse of that. I also really love all the references he makes to the past. Lastly, his vocals brooo???! 🥺
Daechwita: my hype queen. I honestly can't stop headbanging to this mf song. It's so good??? The traditional instrumental with that trappy beat are >>>> and his rapping is aggressive for most parts of the song and then he slows down and changes his flow? Like oof that's sexc🤤
Daechwita: I love how we got different parts of the beat one by one in the beginning of the song, it was soo cool. Onto the lyrics, my boy is a king😏 he dragged all of them, it was so hooot. Alsoo, "flexing, I don't need one" cause HE is the flex🤤 this dude is insane
What do you think: when I say this man is insane I mean INSANE. This song had me laughing hysterically from the shade and sarcasm, it was sooo HOT my mannnn. That's what I call a good diss track. I wouldn't be able to show my face ever again if I was dragged by him like that.
WDYT?: onto the beat, it's a very hip hop beat it's so powerful and add yoongi's flow on that insane beat and you get a masterpiece song. This song is honestly one of my faves if not my fave. I love how he switched it up at the end with a bridge (idk idk part)
WDYT?: lastly, the fact that this man was writing down every single bs everyone was saying about them while keeping quiet and just dropped everything on this single track and ended all of them before they even started oof. He also spoke the grammy thing into existence let's gooo
Strange: OH BOY, the existential crisis that came with this song were a lot. I really loved how wisely he used auto tune in this track. He makes auto tune sound good and not trashy like other rappers. The contrast between his verse and Joon's was almost poetic.
Strange: I really do feel that this song was one of the most well written songs from the entire mixtape. He switched the entire vibe of the album with this song. From the aggressive dragging to deep topics like that.
Strange: The fact that even at their position they criticize the system that "took them on top" says a lot about the people that they are and I love them so much for that. 🥺 Anw, if you wanna have a taste of how unfair society really is, just listen to this song.
28: BITCH, vocal king came to snap my neck with this vibe song. I loved when they were harmonizing with the other artist, it made the song more lively. His slow rapping voice is also so damn hot??? Like, we know this man can spit fire but it's so good to hear a lot of dif flows.
28: onto the lyrics, another existential crisis song for you my dudes👁️👄👁️ honestly, I can relate to this song so much lyrically, it's so fucking scary being an adult and not knowing what step to take next, losing your dreams in an attempt to just get by....is so fucking sad.
Burn it: first of all, max's voice is incredibly nice??? I never heard his music before so I was pleasantly surprised. The "yeah yeah burn it" part took me back to tear and I love how I can associate the songs to something I love already🥺
Burn it: The electric guitars on the instrumental for this song were sooo amazing idk how to explain it but they made the song so much more badass. Also the contrast between max's soft vocals and yoongi's intense rapping>>>>
Burn it: onto the lyrics, the fact that he acknowledges the things that were keeping him back and wants to get rid of them and his past self that was full of anger and jealousy is soo inspirational.
Burn it: He's uncertain of what will happen after that, if he tries to let go of the feelings he might not succeed and remain the same person but the important thing is that he's trying to put it behind him so as he said even if he gives up on his own will, it's okay sometimes.
People: this song makes me wanna sit outside with a drink, to be able to experience that wholesome feeling the song gives you. First of all, let me get this out of the way and say, HIS VOCALS???? ARE WE FOR REAL??? I could listen to him sing for years. 🥺🥺
People: also miss adora backing him up is so angelic combined with his voice. This song as I said for many others before, gives me thoughts that could lead to an existential crisis BUT that's not it. You think about it but there's a positivity somewhere in there...
People: that makes you think that 'so what?' it makes you realize that's how life is, that we just have to keep moving forward and embrace all kind of things and feelings even the bad ones soo for that reason it motivates and inspires me.
People: Lastly, am I the only one that thought of joker at the 'why so serious' part??? I don't think it was done unintentionally actually🤔 anw moving on💔
Honsool: ngl I feel that this song is one of the saddest from the mixtape. First of all, that heavy auto tuned scary voice and the inaudible sounds put you from the beginning into a dark place and then we have the high vocals that sound angelic yet sad (at least to me) idk
Honsool: the lyrics themselves are pretty sad soo maybe that's why I feel that way about the entire song. That loneliness we get from the lyrics, the feeling of having no escape from it and your draining routine is just so fucking sad idk what else to say, my heart aches tbh
Honsool: I know it can't be helped but I hope he finds better ways to cope with this feeling and stops skipping his meals and drinking till there's no tomorrow or else🔪😔
Set me free: I said it before & I'll say it again. This song is the blue side of D-2. It's so peaceful, it puts my mind at ease, almost gives me a floaty feeling. It's his soft vocals combined with the piano playing softly on the background & the birds chirping, it's just magical
Set me free: also his humming nooo😭😭😭 idk everything is so soft it makes my ears feel like they're in heaven. There's a part where they add guitars to the peaceful vibe and it's just >>>> it's so perfect for an interlude.
Set me free: Now onto the lyrics, they're so sad yet so few. He manages with only a few lyrics like that to make you feel sad yet at peace??? Idk I'm confused as well but that's kinda what it feels like for me and it definitely sets the mood for you to get sad with the last song.
Dear my friend: This song, is close to my heart & insecurities. I love my friends so much so listening to such a personal story from yoongi and the pain he holds with him all this time, I just can't imagine how it must've felt like and still feels like to lose a friend like that.
Dear my friend: Also, the instrumental on this song is amazing. At some parts you can hear the guitars and drums dominating but near the end you can hear the piano softly playing, it makes my heart feel heavy and sad.
Dear my friend: the vocals of the other arist matched to yoongi's emotional rapping just sets you up for an emotional roller-coaster. Also, knowing that this is something so personal and probably hard for yoongi to share makes it more powerful.
Dear my friend: although you both take different paths & you change as people to the point you can't even recognize each other, you still remember all the good memories you had with each other & makes you wish you could go back to the good days where everything was okay & simple.
Anw end of thread cause I made myself sad😔😔😔
