In the past couple of years there has been an emerging trend of politics in esports that did not exist previously.

Here is a thread on what I love about esports and why it concerns me to see this process in action: (1/8)
1. Esports is the level playing field, where anyone can demonstrate their prowess at competition and amaze onlookers with the depth of their strategy and the dedication to their practice. (2/8)

2. We celebrate champions regardless of their identity and background. Period. We learn from our idols because they push the limits of human ability and they inspire us to hone our skills in all aspects of life. (4/8)
3. We have the opportunity to interact with people from all over the world and learn about other cultures and ways of life without judgement. (5/8)
I have been given the amazing opportunity to travel the world and live in different countries because of my career in esports, and it remains one of the most personally fulfilling aspects of my life in this industry. (6/8)
Adhering to these fundamental principles allows us to become more open-minded, educated, and to create enduring friendships that transcend borders, politics, and customs. This is the beauty of esports. (7/8)
We will never all agree with each other, but at least esports, like the Olympics at its best, can be a place where we temporarily put aside our disagreements to marvel at human potential and strive to find common ground. (8/8)
