Unfortunately, there are a lot of “futurists” out there that confuse what they’d *like* to see happen (often horses they’ve flogged errantly for years) w/probable scenarios.

I mean, Shingy is always with us in some form, so most often it’s amusing. But I worry for their clients.

And I’m not talking about the speculative futures work helping us to envision a better world and expand our range of potential futures. That is valuable and necessary work.

I mean the bullshit futures that come from fetishizing technology, confusing “should” with “could,” etc.

And don’t even get me started on sloppy futures methodology.
