James Wood really told Donna Tartt to grow up and turn into a real novelist in that review of The Goldfinch, lmfao WOW.
Can you imagine? LMFAO "Donna. Put aside childish things and turn into a novelist from the 80s."
I mean, there's a conversation to be had, but whew chillay. "This realism don't taste right" is not really the place to begin your review of this book, which is obviously, like, situated at an oblique to realism, lmfao
I--
You ever read internet writing published before 2016 and whistle to yourself because there is absolutely no way you could get away with that now, lmfao.
First of all, LEAVE REALISM ALONE. IT DID NOT HURT ANYONE. SOME OF US LIKE RIGOROUS FICTION, LEV. SOME OF US WANT A RIGOROUS MORAL ACCOUNTING OF THE UNIVERSE WE LIVE IN, AND NOT A FUCKING ROMP THROUGH FEELINGS AND TALKING ANIMALS, YOU BLINKERED DOOFUS.
But, like, tea, not every book needs to do that, tbh.
I swear to God, y'all wanna read fiction about someone's rural grandmother making cornbread and having no teeth SOOOOO BADLY. MAYBE PEOPLE JUST WANNA ENJOY THEMSELVES.
