I want to expand on this tweet because it is important. It's probably one of the most important concepts people should grasp when it comes to the current national political arena. How it came about and why it continues are topics for another time but just know its SOP now. https://twitter.com/unseen1_unseen/status/1264361069214158852
For whatever reason the GOP and the right have ceded the field on the narrative. If you don't understand the narrative here is a good video on the subject. It's about a decade old but it still is as true today as it was when first published.
You can get into the weeds on this and bring up things like MKultra or the Mockingbird operation to explain the current media, but the simple fact is that by focusing on and accepting whatever garbage narrative the fake media creates that day we as conservatives allow them power.
You can claim that by "debunking" or "calling out their lies" you are fighting the narrative and showing people the "truth" and in some measure that is correct, but again by fighting them you give them power. Just by acknowledging their narrative and treating it with enough
....respect that it requires you to make an effort and take precious time from your day to "debunk" or "call out" gives them and their narrative power over you. Not only that you give the left the initiative in the political battle. They control what is being discussed that day.
With that control they can then set the agenda. The issues that are important to them are pushed. The issues important to conservatives are sidelined, not discussed.

One of the greatest things President Trump has been able to do is make the "narrative of the day" a battle again.
A great example of this is what is going on with Joe Scarborough. https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/1264564261327720450?s=20
This is a story from 2001....that's 2001....19 years ago. Why did it take 19 years for the story to gain national attention? When it happened there were a couple stories on the death and then it was buried like the women who died. So why after 19 years is the story resurfacing?
Because Trump created the narrative. Notice how the left handles a narrative originating on the right. Their effort to "debunk" it. They call it a conspiracy theory. State the old line about "without evidence", turn the story from Joe and the death to Trump "making up the story"
Also Notice that isn't how the right "debunks" the left's narratives. I have no idea if something nefarious happened in that office in 2001. The point is why for 19 yrs did the conservative media not mention it? Why have the right allowed the Joe to set the narrative for years?
Why did it take the President to bring up the subject? Why is President Trump the only GOP able to think beyond the left's narratives and create his own narratives? I would much rather have people talking about if Joe is a criminal than about Project 1619, a narrative by the NYT
I'm not a big believer in the "narrative" as a way to reshape human nature. I do know that controlling the conversation does give political power. It gives corrupt politicians cover. It allows Pelosi to rip up the SOTU speech without much pushback. It gives one side a belief
they are the majority. It allows stupid ideas to take center stage while real issues are being ignored. It allows waste, fraud and abuse in other words. It stops things from being accomplished as well as helps other things that never should be taking seriously to become common.
This is the damage the right does by discussing the left's myriad narratives daily. I do acknowledge that in the age of Trump the right has gotten better at the narrative fight but until the right's "thought leaders" stop running to the NYTs and CNNs of the world to get their
...daily "talking points" battle orders, the right will ALWAYS be behind the curve ball, defending from the left. I think it's past time that the right makes the left defend their stupid ideas, actions and pronouncements. There are so many topics out there to pick from.
From economics, foreign policy, health issues, poverty, failed democrat policies, potential murderers on TV morning shows, the incestuous connections of the fake media mafia. Yet, instead we just blindly allow the NYT, WAPO, and CNN to pick what we will discuss daily, weekly.
But you know maybe I'm just "overreacting". Just forget everything I said in the thread.....

Hey, who's up for another round of riveting discussion on how many genders there are and if guys who say they are women should be allowed into girls restrooms and on girls sport teams?
