I am noticing a trend where people are sharing their bank account details publicly on social media for duit raya. Please please dont do this.

This piece of information is part of your personal data & sharing it publicly is basically saying ‘hey cybercriminals, come get me’!
It may appear harmless (especially if ur friends are doing it too), but when you share your bank account details publicly, u are putting yourself at risk for fraud, especially through phishing etc.
It’s even worse if u also post other personal data like your personal phone number, email addresses, etc.

Treat these information like clues - the more u share, the more clues these cybercriminals get to break the code. Oof, recipe to disaster 😣
Without you realizing, you are slowly allowing fraudsters to harvest information about you. Enough data could lead to compromise. They can then start impersonating you, and also possibly gaining access to your bank accounts, including through Internet banking.
‘It’s okay, if get cyberattacked i’ll just report it to the police/get my lawyers’

It can be tough to win a case when you are the one providing these information in the first place. The law might not be able to help you if you don’t help yourself ☹️
I understand it’s sad that a lot of us can’t go collect duit raya as usual this eid because of COVID-19, but it’s really not worth it getting a few ringgit/$$ at the cost of your online safety/security.
If you need explanation in Malay, here’s a good thread on this issue as well:
