I like that so far DOCTOR SLEEP is more of a dark superhero movie than a horror film. It's not what I was expecting.
As somebody that is not very familiar with King's books, it's interesting watching DOCTOR SLEEP after recently watching HBO's THE OUTSIDER there are a lot of similarities.
I wasn't expecting much but I really enjoyed DOCTOR SLEEP DIRECTOR'S CUT. it's was like Stephen King's X-Men and so different from THE SHINNING.
Up next I shift gears from fantastical monsters to real world terrors with Dante Lam’s THAT DEMON WITHIN.
Wow, THAT DEMON WITHIN is very Hitchcockian both thematically and it’s visual story telling.
THAT DEMON WITHIN feels like the Hong Kong action cinema version of the type of thriller Hitchcock made. It’s a clever premise delivered with outstanding action and a number of unexpected stylistic flourishes.
So far the experience has been everything I could have hoped for and more. Not only are they discussing SHOGUN ASSASSIN in depth but the RZA is sharing how it Influenced his crafting of LIQUID SWORDS both sonically & thematically.
Recommended pairing options for SHOGUN ASSASSIN.
Make it a modern western synth grindhouse double or triple feature.

POST TENEBRAS LUX is challenging, intentionally disorienting and asks a lot of its audience, but it's also poetic in an abstract way that's beautiful & rewarding.
