This is no longer about Cummings. I’ve spent most of my adult life working with politicians and never can I recall being as angry as I am now. In saying Cummings did what every parent would the PM has derided people all over the country who followed the rules
And put the needs of the country before their families. They stayed at home, protected the NHS and did their best to save lives, even when they desperately wanted to take their kids to their grandparents or other family members to help to look after them.
This is not about whether Cummings behaved reasonably. He did what many wanted to do but didn’t because they stuck by the rules. He should resign because he broke the rules. Protecting him in this disgraceful way is immoral and is why Johnson should resign.
