Absorbing weekend project - working on a new song that needs noisy drums, but of course with lockdown, I can& #39;t get to a rehearsal space to practise/record - I& #39;ve got no space or soundproofing to play at home. I do have my own drums and cymbals though, so I& #39;ve been taking...
..them out one by one and recording one hit on each. Then I processed the files in Adobe Audition, trimmed each one down and did some minor EQ/compression. Then fed the 24 files into a sequencer Apple just added to Logic Pro X, and inputted the drum patterns I wanted by..
..toggling on individual beats in a grid. Pretty delighted with the end result, a preview of which you can hear in the video below, especially as it& #39;s before I& #39;ve added any reverb, compression and all the other things that make instruments sound good...
...It& #39;s not as satisfying as nailing it live, but I figure these are special circumstances and it certainly hurt my arms less
