Absorbing weekend project - working on a new song that needs noisy drums, but of course with lockdown, I can't get to a rehearsal space to practise/record - I've got no space or soundproofing to play at home. I do have my own drums and cymbals though, so I've been taking...
..them out one by one and recording one hit on each. Then I processed the files in Adobe Audition, trimmed each one down and did some minor EQ/compression. Then fed the 24 files into a sequencer Apple just added to Logic Pro X, and inputted the drum patterns I wanted by..
..toggling on individual beats in a grid. Pretty delighted with the end result, a preview of which you can hear in the video below, especially as it's before I've added any reverb, compression and all the other things that make instruments sound good...
...It's not as satisfying as nailing it live, but I figure these are special circumstances and it certainly hurt my arms less đź‘Ť
