A question I get asked a lot by peers (esp #sales reps & analysts) is if they should make a twitter acct. 99% of the time I say no. Why?

1. Twitter takes more work & a different approach than LinkedIn
2. You have to actively engage with the platform
3. People don’t automatically follow you on Twitter like they do on LinkedIn. It takes significant work to build up a following.
4. There are nuances and humor and different tone of voice on Twitter that may be intimidating to those without a strong personal brand
5. Anecdotal: I started my Twitter and LinkedIn at the same time. I have over 3k followers on LinkedIn and I have yet to crack 1k on Twitter.
6. TL;DR: only make an acct if you are going to put the work into it that it deserves.
What do y’all think? Do you hold #Twitter and #LinkedIn accts to the same degree?
