So I called this girl I have heart-eyes for and she disagreed with everything I said about Doja Cat. She made some solid points though. She called me old as hell and said I don't fully grasp how white supremacist internet culture indoctrinates youth.
She told me to think back to Assata Shakur'sautobiography, page 150, where Assata was indoctrinated with US imperialist ideology and had to be checked by African students. Assata was pro-US Democracy, or US imperialism, just because she lived in the country and watched the news.
She then explained to me that some Black kids have been online since they were toddlers. Imagine what spaces they enter without anyone to check them and to be reinforced with anti-Black sentiments in school and home.
She doesn't condone what Doja Cat does but told me that I just lack understanding of how deep internet culture can institutionalize youth.
