Boris Johnson says he has had "extensive face to face" conversations today with Dominic Cummings and has concluded that he "followed the instincts of every father".

He tells No 10 briefing he has acted "responsibly, legally & with integrity" and always focused on saving lives.

In response to question about Barnard Castle allegations, PM says: "I have looked at them carefully and am content that at all times in his period of isolation, actually on both sides of that period, [Cummings] behaved responsibly and legally".

The PM is also quite clear that Dominic Cummings self-isolated for a full 14 days at his family's Durham home.

"That's what Mr Cummings and his family did".

"Mr Cummings did isolate for 14 days or more".
