I would like to address the virtue signaling crowd that thinks if you wear no mask, you are breaking the law and acting immorally. First of all masks are to keep your germs to yourself. They are at best 10% effective at protecting you from the virus, unless it is a sealed N95.
If you have been self isolating, washing your hands and staying six ft from people and you are not sick, you don't have the virus. You either have not contracted it, or you have in the past contracted it and gotten over it and have the antibodies. In either case you are not
Typhoid Mary and you are not endangering anybody by not wearing a mask. If you MIGHT have contacted somebody with the virus, then wearing a mask, for other people's protection is a good idea, but not important enough to shame and arrest and ridicule someone not wearing one.
And each individual has the responsibility to use their best judgement in each situation they encounter. I have seen people wearing masks on camera take them off as soon as the camera turns off. I have seen people touching their mask and adjusting their mask and taking their ma
mask on and off which is contrary the CDC warning of "don't touch your face after touching a public surface until you wash or sanitize you hands". I have a beard, and a mask does not seal at all against my face. It offers no protection for me and does not protect you any more
than if I stay 6 ft away and cough into my elbow and I don't talk or yell or scream or sing in your direction. But most of all, the reason I am writing you virtue signalers is that every situation has its own consequences and human judgement is often required to balance out vario
us needs and repercussions. An example is, if you lock everybody in their homes the economy dies and when you stop living it is very much like dying yourself. I could list 320 million reasons we should reopen, and you can list exactly zero reasons I should have a mask on now.
But I keep getting away from the thing I realized a few hours ago. My sister is in the hospital. She has really bad hearing, almost deaf. Communication is hard with her anyway. Her husband can't visit her because of Covid. But most important, and the point of this thread...
With masks, you are putting lip readers in complete isolation.
