not to like. have a bad take but there's something i really dislike about the stance that ozpin was allowed to let seven teenage kids go into something without all the information they needed to survive because he's had a hard life and tried his best
like i in no way think of ozpin as a villain, i think at his core he IS a good man, but like. it's one thing keeping things from adults in power that could cause serious damage if they decided to betray him and literal teenage kids who've almost been murdered thousands of times
the idea the kids should be grateful to him for keeping world peace; yes ozpin has worked hard, but the implication that they HAVE to look past all he's put them through because he's saved the world before is just. Yikes.
RWBYJNR and Qrow weren't just mad about the keeping of secrets. It was heavily implied Jaune's resentment of Ozpin is partially due to his (and Qrow's) role in Pyrrha's death. Qrow sacrificed a lot for Ozpin when Ozpin wasn't ready to do the same.
This all tied into the fact that no, RWBY did NOT attempt to drag up Ozpin's trauma to throw it at his face; they were angry that Ozpin put a civilian train in danger and wanted to know what other things Ozpin might have been keeping after he SAID he'd told them everything
Ruby wanted to know if there was anything about the Relics and the Maidens they needed to know that could put people in danger like that again. They weren't at all attempting to force Ozpin to relive it, they had no idea that Jinn would even answer their question like that.
The narrative that the kids are "abusing" Ozpin, that Ozpin was bullied and he doesn't need to apologise for what he put RWBYJNR through but RWBYJNR should apologise to HIM is just like. Awful? I don't get how people can see the situation that much in black and white.
The group, particularly Qrow and Jaune, WERE out of line at times. I'm also not going to sit here and pretend I would have reacted any differently. All of the kids lost a best friend to him, were lied to and are expected not to be angry. To not hold Oz accountable.
