it's very uncomfortable that I will check a troll's bio for pronouns before telling them off but a whole section of my followers slaps "they/them" on me without a second thought
what bothers me is the _confidence_
these people are SO SURE they know my pronouns that they never check
these people are SO SURE they know my pronouns that they never check
is it the way I look? the way I tweet? the topics I tweet about? my sense of humor? my avatar?
being called they/them makes me feel ugly, unwanted, abandoned, cast out into the cold. it makes me feel like my history and experiences don't matter. it makes me feel like a weird alien, sorted into the Other bin. it makes me feel like I'm not a person.
the thing about gender is there is gender identity, gender expression, AND personal preferences
people can identify other than how you think they appear

I am pragmatic and efficient
I see no significant upside to changing my pronouns
my pronouns don't prevent me from dressing or acting how I want, and changing them won't improve society's treatment of me
I have always had these pronouns and they are what I know

and I don't care if I'm the most genderqueer nonbinary nightmare fey on this whole damn website
my pronouns are she/her
learn them
