I received messages after my "10$ per emote is too low" tweet about how some streamers cant afford them and shouldnt be penalized. I drew an entire set for free to help before i closed commissions, you can often find artists willing to assist. Those are case by case, but if you
cant afford to pay for (good) emotes maybe there is a bigger issue that you have to solve before streaming 8 hours a day. Emotes are a big driving factor on Twitch and artists have been taking advantage of for way too long, in my opinion
And yes, "supply and demand". The price will always get ridicolously low because someone else will lower it but my message is "Streamers are often on the receiving end of a lot of generosity and support, if an artist made you a good emote and asked a low price, reward them more"
