Evil is purged from the land in the Shadow Temple with 'torture and death'. All evil is concentrated here. It is a holy place to the holy family and to their servants. It holds the Lens of Truth, which reveals the true nature of the world. (3/4)

In the Shadow Temple and the Well, Link faces fearsome entities to gain his "Lens of Truth". Much like the vamacharic deities in tantra give siddhis (boons) for psychic potential, the Shadow Temple gave Link his third eye to better prepare him for Ganon. (4/5)
