I don't want to link to it, but there is a piece on a popular reformed Christian website claiming COVID-19 is God's providence so that a conservative church in a liberal neighborhood gets to deliver food to nieghbors and also Pride is cancelled. 100,000+ deaths for that?
Also, it's written by a person who also wrote a very successful book on Christian hospitality. Who sums up their understanding of God/pandemics by quoting Calvin (on Hosea) “There is no reason why we should feel safe when God declares himself opposed to and angry with us.”
I think the reason it has me so upset is that the piece starts with an interesting question: "why is our church not good news to our neighbors?"

But the author chooses to answer it by claiming the culture is changing and is obsessed with identity politics.
I think this is what depresses me more than anything. If we can't truly sit with the question of why the White evangelical American church is not considered to be good news for the majority of our neighbors, we are locked into a terrible space of scarcity and blame-shifting
