"He'll be okay."
Akaashi had been ran over by a car. A speeding car.
When Bokuto got the call he thought it was a prank. It had to be. Akaashi was always super careful before crossing the street, so it couldn't be real.

Akaashi was still in surgery but it's been 3 hours. They had already called Akaashi's parents who hugged Bokuto as soon as they saw him. Kuroo and Kenma were also there in the waiting room, they were with him when he got the call from the hospital.

Bokuto was scared. He couldn't lose Akaashi, what would he do without him? They were engaged for God's sake, Akaashi couldn't die.
They saw the doctor passing the door and saying Akaashi's name which made them get up and rush to him.
"How is he?" He'll be okay.

"He had an internal bleeding in his head which affected his brain. We did everything we could to save him, but he didn't survive. I'm very sorry." Akaashi's mother's scream was heard as her husband caught her from falling to the ground crying.

"Can I talk to him?" The doctor looked at Bokuto with confusion in his eyes. Kuroo and Kenma both put a hand on his shoulder, tears already falling.
"Sir, your fiance is dead." Bokuto nods.
"Okay, can I talk to him?" It was like his brain wasn't processing the information.

"I need to talk to him. He's okay, he's-"
"Bokuto, Bokuto, hey, look at me. Look at me." Kuroo grabbed his face with both his hands and looked at him straight in the eyes.
Bokuto frowned. Why was Kuroo crying? Akaashi was okay.
"Akaashi's dead."

"Akaashi's dead."
Bokuto released himself from Kuroo's hold.
"Just let me talk to him. I'm sure he wants to go home, just let me take him home." Kenma stepped in front of him this time, crying as well. Why is everyone crying? Akaashi is okay.

"Akaashi is not coming back home, Bokuto. He's dead." Kenma steps forward and hugs him tightly. "I'm so sorry, but Akaashi's dead."
Bokuto looks around watching as Akaashi's mother sobs out loud clutching herself in her husband's coat while whispering several "my baby's",
Bokuto looks around watching as Akaashi's mother sobs out loud clutching herself in her husband's coat while whispering several "my baby's",
as the doctor looks at him with concern, as Kenma lets out a silent sob, as Kuroo approaches him with red wide shining eyes. And suddenly it's like someone grabs his heart and rips it away from him. His vision gets blurred as water accumulates in his eyes.
"No..."
"No..."
Bokuto doesn't know how he got home. Doesn't know how he ended up laying on his king side bed hugging Akaashi's pillow because his scent was in it.
What he does know is that his heart doesn't stop hurting and he can't stop crying.
What he does know is that his heart doesn't stop hurting and he can't stop crying.
Everything that him and Akaashi did together were passing on his mind like a movie. Every kiss, every hug, everytime they made love, every "i love you". Everything they could've been and done together.
The day of Akaashi's funeral is a blur to Bokuto. He wanted to scream until his voice broke during the whole thing. He wanted to hug Akaashi and never let him go.
He got himself on his knees in front of Akaashi's grave when everyone left.

Breathing was hard when his chest was hurting so much. He brushed his fingers carefully on Akaashi's photo, his eyes already filled with tears.
"Please come back..." it was just a whisper. "I'll do anything just to have 10 more minutes with you. So please come back, Keiji."

The pain just got worse when a week later Kuroo was telling him it was time to cancel their wedding. They were supposed to get married in two weeks... Get married, start a family and live a long happy life together until they died... together. But that wouldn't happen now.
Bokuto called the venue and cancelled. Then called the agency who booked their honeymoon and cancelled. He didn't cry while speaking to them, he didn't cry after either. But he did cry that night as he looked at his ring on his finger and Akaashi's ring on the bedside table.
6 months passed and the pain didn't get better, but it got bearable. Bokuto had put a shirt of Akaashi on his pillow when his scent had fade away and changed it to another every time it was smelling like his tears. It calmed him down, it helped him sleep.
It felt like he was actually hugging Akaashi.
Bokuto hadn't been able to go to Akaashi's grave since the funeral. He hadn't been able to do most things, actually. Smiling was one of them. He smiled, yes, but it wasn't the stunning shining smile that made other people smile too.

It didn't even get to his eyes. The colourful happy eyes that were now dark and dead, even when he played volleyball. That was another thing... playing didn't feel good anymore. He goes to practice and everyone is there, and everyone is looking at him with pity in their eyes and
he just wants to throw everything away and run until he sees Akaashi again.
The whistle sounds and the first game since Akaashi's death begins. Bokuto looks to the stands seeing all of his family and friends there to support.

Kuroo gives him a thumbs up when the other team serves the ball.
The game goes on, people cheering when their team scores. By the third set, Bokuto's team is winning 21-23. Hinata scores another point leaving them on set point.

Sakusa serves and the other team receives it perfectly, their setter goes for a dump but Hinata gets it. Atsumu tosses to Bokuto and he spikes it with all his strength winning them the game. Everyone stays quiet expecting him to do his celebration,
but he didn't do it through all the game so he wouldn't do it know. But suddenly he hears it. The "hey hey hey" coming from the stands.
Akaashi's parents, Kuroo, Kenma, his parents were all there saying it. And at the moment he finally smiles big for the first time in months.
Bokuto looks to the ceiling as if Akaashi was there, "Hey Hey Hey, Keiji."
