Ozil under Arteta and how he has been reborn (a thread):
Since Artetas long overdue appointment to overtake Freddie’s stop gap managerial point we have seen steady however noticeable progress among the squad and our number 10-Ozil
Ozil under Emery was completely out of favour due to a lack of work rate, not fitting the system Emery wanted and Emery’s seeming hatred towards creative players
As Arteta has put his stamp on the team he has shown a fondness towards the 4-2-3-1 which integrates an attacking midfield option in Ozil who will vastly control the midfield ball movement towards our striker and inverted wingers
As Pepe and Aubameyang go either side of Lacazette/Nketiah due to our fluid approach we have seen a ‘new’ Ozil in a way that he is enjoying football again. This is due to his new responsibilities of being the teams spark and ticker of the ball
Although stats won’t show the work he puts in for Artetas plan the amount of passes he plays maybe one or two before our goals as he unlocks a new door that leads to easy finishing is staggering and completely underrated
Furthermore we saw him end his goal drought against Newcastle after around a year of waiting and we’ve also seen an assist versus West Ham which may seem little but additional stats for him will do well due to the stat heavy community we are in
Lastly, Ozil has been under a lot of scrutiny for his lack of ‘effort’ or ‘work rate’ however since we saw Emery leave and this new Arteta system in place he has been a joy to watch in how he is always seen working harder than everyone else and putting 110% in for the badge
