This building was sold for £415,000 with a covenant on the land for school or play area. It now has a value of £6m. The covenant was removed by paying off neighbours. housing, who now run the site.

This is how public land meant to provide a space for children is privatised via London and sold back to the public for a small fortune and the green light from the local council.
Our social, council and private housing sectors need serious revision. The huge profits developers make drive up rent and mortgages for everyone.
The council need to retain this land and start to develop sites themselves again. Land is a precious commodity and should be treated as such. Selling public property should be a last resort, not first.
