guys, why are school premises being sanitized?

firstly, they said that virus only survive for certain days outside of a host right? and it's been more than 5 weeks now since we last went to schools, surely it's dead wherever it is right now.

secondly, most of these schools haven't even recorded a single case cory ever since lockdown, so what exactly are they sanitizing?

instead of wasting that sanitizers like that, why can't they just give it to Tops, open it and sanitize okes upon entry?
