I fight with people every single time there's a discussion on something like this, tho mostly only with people I know.

I know I don't have much resources. I know I can't convince people beyond a point. But I consider it worthwhile if even a few people understand 1/n https://twitter.com/Iyervval/status/1264510125521293314
the value of free speech and its necessity for everyone.

Every single time i do that, random people start abusing and asking, "Will you support my speech if I abuse your mother?"

Abe chutiyo, I don't need to support your (disgusting) speech for me to support your 2/n
right to say these things. When did we become so pussyfooted to be scared and/or offended by abusive speech?

Are bolne do na aagewale ko. Tum double bolo. Ha, haath uthana is taking law into your own hands. You can legit file a complaint if you see that. 3/n
But unless the speech is an incitement to violence or causing wanton panic, why do you want to muzzle people? Cuz you can't hear their opinions? Then who's the smaller person?

Fir aa jayenge hate speech par.

Let me say this in the clearest way possible. 4/n
Hate speech is free speech, in the moral sense.

And I'm having to say the last part because people immediately jump at the mention of hate speech.

Are anpadh logo, hate speech aur incitement me fark hota hai. Padh kar aao. Don't embarrass yourselves. 5/n
And lastly, but most importantly, again, only to the people willing to listen.

I'm not saying ki kal hi free speech ke liye Bharat Bandh pukarenge. No. There is a big prerequisite, that of law and order reforms. Also, people must know their rights. 6/n
My appeal is to people here that I know, even a little.

You start with yourself. Always. Do not ask for people to be sued for opinions, no matter how despicable. Kyuki ye baat yaad rakhna, is context me.

What you're doing to someone else, may be done to you tomorrow. 7/n
If not anything else, just for the sake of your own selfishness, do not ask for the law to take matters that it morally has no right interfering in, into its own hands.

@Iyervval ke experience se kuch to seekho.

Don't be idiots. 8/8
