1994. Arguably THE greatest guest appearance in rap, “Life’s A Bitch” from Nas debut album Illmatic.
1995. Fresh off his Illmatic appearance, AZ signs a deal with EMI records releasing his debut album, Doe or Die. Widely regarded as a classic, Doe or Die helps usher in the Mafiaso style a year ahead of JayZ’s Reasonable Doubt x Nas’s It Was Written.
Doe Or Die’s hit single, “Sugar Hill” peaked at #3 on the US rap charts & was certified gold in 1995.
“The Skill level presented on Doe or Die places AZ at the forefront of East Coast rhymers, up there with Biggie, Chef Raekwon & his homie Nas. This is really some next shit.” -TheSource ‘95.

Salute AZ. 1 of the illest Lyricist ever. Capable of rhyming with ANY MC that’s ever touched a mic.
