Let me explain the vargani/ khandani model of Shiv Sena. My late father was an officer in the Reserve Bank of India. He had joined at a time when very few Marathis could make the cut in white collar jobs. There were just two Marathis (dad being one) out of 50 who joined as clerks

Shiv Sena then started Sthanik (local) Lokadhikar Samiti (SLS) to fight for jobs for Marathi speaking people in Mumbai. My dad knew current Sena MP from one of the Mumbai seat Gajanan Kirtikar, who then worked in RBI and was a member of SLS

The SLS did good work initially but then degenerated in a monthly subscription (vargani in Marathi).

The SLS tried to extort vargani from young clerks who joined on their own merit later. My dad then an officer had many verbal fights with SLS members who were forcibly doing it

Like SLS, the Sena was a party or organization created for social work but quickly got reduced to earning quick money for its leaders and of course Matoshree.

Mumbai could have been a much better city infrastructure wise had the Sena not wasted 25 years playing tender tender

The most significant infra addition was done by Fadnavis as CM till 2019, which is of course the metro network. Uddhav as Sena head did zilch for Mumbai, even though defacto he was running the BMC for last 15 years
