In this season of #EidUlFitr , I thought to bring you ten things that shouldn't be stored in your fridge.

1. Bread

Fridge makes your bread tough and chewy. Even when you microwave, you don't get the best texture of your bread. Room temperature is perfect for storing your bread.
2. Onions

Onions should be stored in a cool dry place. Fridge softens your onions and makes it mushy more like semi-liquid. That's not what you want.

I store my onions in a tray, and store away from heat.
3. Potatoes

This is another one that shouldn't go inside your fridge. What happens to potatoes stored in the fridge is simple - the starch turns to sugar and give your potatoes unnatural sweetness.

Store preferably in a basket and in a cool place.
4. Watermelon

This is for the sake of space. Uncut watermelon should never be stored in the fridge; except if it's all you want to store in your fridge.

I usually would cut into a bowl with cover and store ... Nothing beats chilled watermelon actually.
5. Honey

If you want your honey to remain fresh and smooth, keep it away from the fridge. The fridge causes your honey to solidify and lumpy.

Just leave it in a jar or inside a bottle on your dinning table or kitchen shelf.
6. Bananas

Cold temperature is different from cool temperature. If you don't want your bananas to get soft quickly and even turn black (especially unripe ones), keep them away from your fridge.

I usually clean with a dry cloth and put on a tray, away from heat.
7. Garlic

Treat your garlic like your onions. If you store them in the fridge, they will sprout and may stretch like rubber.

I store in a dry place and it can last for a long time.
8. I am sure you are familiar with the phrase cool like cucumber. Cool not cold. You want your cucumber cool, therefore, room temperature is just perfect for storing them.

I just knew this myself while putting the thread together.
9. Tomatoes

Tomatoes, especially unripe ones are better stored outside your fridge. The fridge damages the membrane inside the tomatoes and alters the taste.

A cool and a dry place is all you need.
10. Avocados

Just store in an open cool place. Fridge hinders their ripening success.

Tip

If you keep avocados and bananas side by side, the ripening process will be accelerated.

#EidMubarak to all my Muslim friends.

End.
