I am pretty much agnostic on the Veep stakes.

I trust the campaign to make the best decision based on the strategy they think is best. That's above my pay grade.

And I trust the people under consideration to decide how it would fit into their long term plans.

That said, there are a few choices that would disappoint me. Not because they are bad options 2020, but because it limits them going forward.

The Vice President hardly EVER wins. But this year is different. Biden isn't running right after Obama and might only serve one term.

So what the hell do I know? This is uncharted territory.

I'm happy to debate pros and cons but I'm confident the choice will reflect the best option for the campaign and for that person.

And this process takes months, so RELAX PEOPLE!! This isn't today's problem 😊

There's no reason to think Biden's VP will even get the nomination. That's my point.

Being VP makes it harder bc they'll have Biden's baggage as well as their own.

They will choose the best running mate for Biden. We can worry about future campaigns after we get past this one.
But I have people I'd LOVE to see as our nominee in the future, so I hope they turn it down and live to fight another day.

Don't assume that someone who isn't picked was snubbed or passed over. It may be they decided it was a better strategy for them to stay where they are.

My point is, this isn't something that will be decided based on grassroots support, Twitter agitation, or (ahem) campaigning like a dark horse Oscar nominee.

Things come up in vetting that are deal breakers. There are considerations and factors we will never know about.

It's fun to debate possibilities but none of us know enough to definitively state that Biden needs someone who can deliver the Pacific Northwest or help with the Mennonite vote

I caution you to conserve your energy, especially your emotional energy. We have a hard road ahead.

One clarification:

@TheRichWilkins is right. Nobody declines the offer to run on the ticket.

But you can decline the opportunity to be vetted. That's what I meant.
