There is so much misunderstanding about why many of us progressives are completely unwilling, or at the very least, extremely hesitant, to support Biden. I thought I would lay out a few reasons to make it more clear. 1/

First off, it’s not because we secretly want trump. No. Stop that. Second, it’s not because we will only accept purity. What purity? Bernie was a compromise, but we were happy to support him. It’s not sour grapes. 2/

It’s that the system is fundamentally broken, and we don’t see an end so long as we play into the manipulation. The DNC, in its current form, frames itself as the party of resistors, of justice, of goodness. 3/

“Republicans bad! Democrats good!” But dems have a lot of responsibility for problems we’re facing. Clinton repealed Glass-Steagall, which precipitated the worst recession in our lifetimes (until now). He ravaged welfare for the mess that is TANF, 4/

He passed the crime bill, sending thousands, millions(!) to wallow in prisons. Obama bailed out the banks, the auto companies, but where was our debt forgiveness? Where was our bail out? What did he do to prevent it from happening again? Inequality has never been worse. 5/

And now you say, “but trump! He is so horrible! He will destroy our system as we know!” Yes, he is absolutely awful. The worst. Who propped him up? Who promoted his candidacy? Who wanted to push republicans even further right so that she’d look better by comparison? 6/

“...but make them more ‘Pied Piper’ candidates who actually represent the mainstream of the Republican Party...We need to be elevating the Pied Piper candidates so that they are leaders of the pack and tell the press to [take] them seriously." 8/

When did Hillary say, “I take responsibility for trump. Through back channels I pushed the media to cover him, to focus on him, to push the republican race screaming toward the right.”? When did party leadership step down, embarrassed by what their craven politics has done? 9/

It hasn’t happened. They won’t own that mistake. Or any of their others. And now they say, “vote Biden or it’s your fault we’ll have trump!” Biden, who sent our brothers and sisters to war, to jail, into debt, into early graves. It’s abusive. It’s contemptible. It’s shameful. 10/

But so long as it works, it’s what they’ll do. And the media will help them do it and not hold them accountable. And we’re supposed to be grateful, or at least shut up about it. So forgive me, I know trump is bad, he’s awful, but dems put him there and they’re doing it again. /11
