/ Feel like doing a thread...

Funny how people on the right block me as being a leftie and people on the left block me for being far right. I’m a #libertarian, people! Freedom for all, in all ways, so long as it doesn’t stop others from exercising their own freedom. Examples...
/ Your body is yours. It is you! Want to take drugs? Fine. Why should lsd, shrooms, MDMA, marijuana, and so on, which are objectively less harmful than booze or baccy, be criminalised? It makes no sense. If baccy and booze are fine, so are these others.
/ ‘Sex is natural / sex is good / not everybody does it / but everybody should’ If I wanna buy/sell massages, gym training, English classes, etc, it’s ok, but if I want to voluntarily exchange sexual services it’s a crime? Sorry, but no.
/ I am romantically & physically attracted to ppl of the same sex as me & want to have sex, live with, contract to marry, raise children w/ including adopt: what is the problem? Gary’s straight and loves anal sex and fatties, I’m straight and love pegging and blondes. Big deal.
/ Freedom OF religion and freedom FROM religion. All religions are fine (spake the atheist): ✝️☪️🕉☸️✡️🕎☯️ etc. Freedom of belief, yes! Freedom of action including action related to/inspired by said belief, yes—so long as it doesn’t impinge on me doing as I will in return
/ Now to trigger the other side...

But religions are ideas & practices. They are not genetically inherited like skin colour. You can change your mind. Any idea is up for criticism. If I think you political views or taste in film or religious views are stupid, I am free to mock.
/ Democracy is amazing. But it’s not possible without a strong demos & civil society. As per Marx, not every society is ready for democracy. Importation of peoples will inevitably disrupt the demos and civil society—esp. if they’re a people not ready for democracy.
/ So mass immigration runs counter to Liberty as we do not live in CANZUKworld where every people has more-or-less the same background, history, societal norms, & understanding of liberal democracy. & importation of ppl from incompatible cultures is even more harmful to Liberty.
/ Because we do not live in CANZUKworld, where every people is the same, we can only ensure democracy by organising our world along the lines of the nation state, the boundaries and forms of which to be determined freely by the people themselves, not by political masters.
/ Failed states make a good and moral life impossible. Unstable states make it hard. A strong and stable (tho minimal) state is essential for freedom to thrive. Thus, internal convulsions and threats from without must be guarded against. Therefore...
/ ... we must have a strong justice system, police and parliament in order to guard against internal convulsions, and a strong border force and military to guard against threats from without.
/ But we must guard against the threats which a justice system, police force, and parliament also themselves pose to Liberty by limiting their scope and not preventing the people having tools to check these institutions. Speaking of which...
/ The right to keep & bear arms is fundamental to being a freeman. It is a right & a responsibility. Everyone owns their own life & must be able to defend it if they want to, everyone should be free to shoot for fun (pursuit of happiness), we must defend against state tyranny.
/ So the state is required for liberty to thrive but it also always presents a threat to liberty unless limited. Firearms help limit it. And if it has no revenue, it is doubly limited. Everyone always spends their budget, moves on to acquire more, then spends that, too. Thus...
/ The state must have only enough money to ensure its basic functions as required to ensure liberty, such as courts, police, and parliament, and almost nothing else. So tax income should be hugely limited to prevent state overreach.
/ Which leads on to the morality of tax itself. ”Dave! Gimme your money or I’ll kidnap, kill or lock you in the basement! I’ll spend a bit on you, though” “Well, alright then” It’s wrong for an individual or a gang to seize your stuff, and it’s wrong for the state to seize it.
/ So fees or taxes for non-essential services is more moral than income tax, but still not ideal. We must limit the scope of tax to almost nothing in order to ensure freedom.
/ This thread is far from exhaustive. I believe in freedom. And everything I fight for — gay rights, ending the drug war, controlling immigration, opposing China, pro-Brexit — all derive from my understanding of freedom. I am not right or left. I’m #libertarian. Thank you.
