While *I* wouldn't bring up bi erasure in a convo where ppl were talking about fear of hatecrime for being visibly gay in public... Please stop claiming bisexuals have it easier overall! Bisexuals - esp bi women - have higher rates of mental illness & sexual assault than gay ppl.
You lot perpetually reduce the hierarchy of LGBT suffering to who is most likely to be hatecrimed. When actually there are *many* MATERIAL ways in which lgbt lives are impacted by Cisheteropatriarchy.
TW: r*pe mention

Which is to say - let's stop this reductive discourse around "straight passing" privilege.

Yes, a cis bi woman kissing a cis man in public is less likely to get beat up.

But she's ALSO MORE likely to be r*ped and feel suicidal than a gay/lesbian person.
Her "Straight passing privilege" does NOT protect her from graater risk of sexual assault or increased suicidality.

So where do we go from here?
Arguably threads like that of the OP and general negative sentiment from monosexuals (both gay & straight) towards bisexual people is a huge contributor to the worsened mental health outcomes experiences by bi people. So can we stop now? Can we operate in queer solidarity plz
Can we acknowledge that anti lgbt harm isn't just about who gets decked? That it's structural & social & psychological too? And that the liminality of bisexual people - construed as "passing privilege" - is likely what creates worse outcomes for mental & sexual safety?
