Last night I was telling my friends my theory that the blond king in #Daechwita was the Agust D from 2016 who began his rule then but was too vicious. #AgustD2 is the new era of a more confident and less angst-ridden artist, hence he takes down the older version of himself.
What fuelled this theory in my mind was the scars on the king and the rebel’s faces—the king’s scar is a somewhat fresh wound while the rebel’s is long- healed and to me that means Agust D’s ability to heal from the pain and anguish we heard on the first mixtape.
Now the behind the scenes video of the MV seems to confirm this theory! It’s an outline of the evolution of an artist—letting go of the past versions of oneself to allow a more mature, stronger version to take the ‘throne’, a version that has that many more life lessons. Genius!
Agust D is no longer controlled by his anguish—he is confident in his abilities as an artist because the success speaks for itself. He doesn’t need pride or ego or anger—he shoots that down to stay grounded, rooted in his art and who he is. It’s what #AgustD really stands for.
