I will try to explain my best why is the situation worst in MH and Mumbai.
Mumbai is one of the most densely populated cities in the world with nearly 33k people per sq km(in first 5). Out of 100 most populated urban wards in Maharashtra 40 are in Mumbai and corona patients
are maximum in these wards compared to others. Same is the situation with Malegaon and other cities. Almost all of the worst affected cities have slums and its obvious the maintaining social distancing in slums is very difficult which uses public toilets, public taps for water.
Even for daily activities u can come in contact by one way or another.
And 80 % of cases are from these clusters - Mumbai, Pune, Malegaon and Aurangabad.
we had been decently successful in restraining the spread to small town or villages but the migration crisis currently,
people moving from Mumbai, Pune is a reason we can see spike in cases in villages.
One other important factor is International passengers. Mumbai airport handles nearly 48 Million passengers per year. 15 out of 100 passengers in India are handled by Mumbai airport.
Now I ll come to what Government has been doing.
Treatment has been made free my Mahatma Phule Jan Arogya Yojana in registered hospitals.
The government had also fixed the cost of COVID treatment and non-COVID treatment including 270 procedures and surgeries,
including cancer treatments.
The state government already ordered 80% control of all private hospital beds till August 31.
More than 10 lakh migrants has been sent to their respective destinations by trains or buses.
At many places buses have been arranged promptly if
migrants are seen walking.
Number of hospital and quarantine facilities has been developed in Mumbai, Nagpur, Pune and many cities.
Mumbai is planning to make available nearly one lakh beds for covid-19 patients in the coming days- this is from Mr. Rajesh Tope.
Also the only way to tackle this issue is test, identify and isolate, which Maharashtra has been doing good since day 1. Currently we had tested more than 3.5 lakh people. Where as the states like UP, MP and Bihar have done nearly or more than 1 lakh tests.
The daily testing capacity has increased from 7thousand to 14 thousand and now state is planning to take it to 23 thousand.
Government has been successful in bringing the mortality rate from 7% to 3.4 %.
I am sure there might be some gaps which we might feel but in the time of crisis we should rather engage in positive suggestion rather than pointing out the mistakes.
Stay Home Stay safe..!!
